The “Digital Archives Licensing Value-added Industry Matching Meeting and Results Exhibition” organized by TELDAP and Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica, was held on November 14 in the Special Exhibition Area of the Technology Building. This activity not only displayed the results of the “Digital Archives Collection Fusion Project”, it also provided a space for digital archives value added application interaction and cooperation for Taiwan’s gift, 3C companies and the various collecting bodies participating in TELDAP, allowing various groups which have a joint vision for the future of creative cultural industries in Taiwan that do not often have a chance to meet to come together and cooperate to create new cultural value and an international stage for the culture of Taiwan.
Promoted by government, the creative product competition met with an enthusiastic response from companies.10 works derived from source materials authorized by Chinese Culture University’s Huagang Museum, the Collection of Yuyu Yang Artistic and Educational Foundation, the National Museum of History, the National Museum of Natural Science, Yuyu Yang Digital Art Museum, the National Place Museum, Taiwan Historical Hall, Academia Historica by nine companies-- DAEP, Xiang Yang Tecnology CO., Ltd, Yuyuyang Taiwan Craft, C-LAVIE UNITED WISDOM, Taoyard, Museum Republic Inc, New Seed creative Co﹒Ltd. and Ideco International Inc. were finally selected from a number of fine entries. These works were based on pieces in TELDAP and Union Catalog and included gifts and 3C, allowing people, in addition to be impressed by Taiwan’s and China’s culture, to also be amazed by the creativity of private companies. These companies each was awarded NT$200,000 in financial assistance from the government.
Another result on display was the “Digital Archives Creative value added commercial platform” which has the new circular value chain as its core concept. Through five main functions—matching service, materials search, creativity market, legal advice and community village— supported by actual matching activities, it provides archives, creative and cultural industries with a space for concentrating resources, sharing creativity, information sharing, specialized mutual help, cooperation and alliance forming and international exchange that has rich resources and limitless business opportunities, allowing every link in the archives industry to use its own strengths to cooperate with others, and integrate and add value to Taiwan’s existing rich and diverse cultural materials and resources, creating new cultural value and stimulating the development of the archive industry and the world market.
The Dean of the College of Design of National Taiwan University of the Arts, the Managing Director and Creative Director of Hsi & Chi's World and other leading lights from art and design circles also attended. Companies were provided with guidance to help them search for business opportunities in the national archives treasure trove. Many companies and Digital Archives Project bodies also exhibited works, allowing the attendees to see the creative miracles produced by Taiwan’s cultural and creative industries.
