Digital Archives Specialized Training Courses (7-9) “Core Archive Technology and Systems 1” Successfully Completed on November 12, 19th and 26th

Digital archives specialized training courses (7-9) “Core archive technology and systems 1 of the Human Resource Development & E-learning Division, National Digital Archives Program was held in Room 703 of the Research Building, Institute of History & Philology. The course had 83 participants.

Wang Hsiang-An and Wang Yu-Cheng of the Technology Development Team of the Research and Development of Digital Archives & e-Learning Technologies Project and Chen Ya-Ning, Shen Han-Cong and Chen Hui-Ping of the Metadata Architecture and Application Team of the Research and Development for Digital Archives and e-learning Technologies Project were course lecturers.

On November 12 the theme was “Digital Archive technologies introduction”, with Wang Hsiang-An of the Technology Development Team of the Research and Development of Digital Archives & e-Learning Technologies Project the lecturer. Multi-media archive technology, system application technology was introduced and the lecturer also shared his system establishment experiences and engaged in discussion with students.

The theme on November 19 was “Metadata” and the lecturers were Chen Ya-Ning, Shen Han-Cong and Chen Hui-Ping of MAAT, Research and Development of Digital Archives & e-Learning Technologies Project. Chen Ya-Ning defined Metadata and described its functions and types, standards, present situation and planning principles. She was followed by Shen Han-Cong who introduced Metadata systematic analysis and design, and then Chen Hui-Ping introduced DC. Finally, Chen Ya-Ning summed up the course contents and engaged in discussion with students.

The theme on November 26 was ‘Image and audio visual management” and the lecturer was Wang Cheng-Yu of the Technology Development Team, Research and Development of Digital Archives & e-Learning Technologies Project. The course was divided into two parts—image and audio visual management. Image management was introduced and then image basics, image archives and image management systems explained. This was followed by audio visual management, introducing audio visual basics, audio visual processing, audio visual archives and audio visual archive technologies. Various examples were discussed with students.
