The Taiwan Malacofauna Database currently includes 277 families and 3,713 species of mollusks in Taiwan and is comprised of the following sub-databases: Taiwan Mollusk Species Catalogue, Taiwan Mollusk Specimens Catalogue, Taiwan Shell Middens, Shell Fossils, Shell Artifacts, List of Mollusk Families, Geographical Distribution, Shell-Related Documents, New Species and Newly Recorded Species Catalogue, List of Shell-Related Chinese Characters, Common Mollusks in the World, and Radula and Ultrastructure of Mollusks. These sub-databases provide information on the forms and characteristics of mollusks as well as their natural habitats and geographical distribution, so that users can learn about the diversity of Taiwan’s malacofauna and quickly search for data on mollusks in Taiwan. In order to connect with the international community, we are also in the process of developing a worldwide malacofauna database and an English interface for our website, hoping to integrate our resources with those from the rest of the world.
