A grand ceremony to mark the start of one of the main events on the TELDAP calendar-- the 2009 TELDAP annual exhibition-- was held on March 8. Special guests in attendance included minister Lou-Chuang Lee, National Science Council (NSC), deputy minister Cheng Wen-chang, director Fu Yang-Chih of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, NSC, Dr.Huang Shing-tsaan, TELDAP joint director, Dr. Lee Der-tsai, Dr.Huang Shing-tsaan, Winston Lee, curator of Taipei Film Archives and representatives from the Industrial Development Bureau MOEA, other government agencies and several dozens figures from industry.
Firstly there was a Budai hand puppet performance by Real Happiness Hand Puppet Theater, “Learning as long as you live,” in which the 88 year puppet character “Ah-Tu” said humorously “At my age I still go on-line.”
Minister Lou-Chuang Lee said cultural creativity is the representation of cultural creative power and also the source of economic power. The cultural and creative industries have been designated by the Executive Yuan as priority new industries for development and digitization is a trend of the times.
Dr. Lee Der-tsai said that this annual exhibition was the second following the merging of the Taiwan E-learning and Digital Archives programs in 2008 and shows the exceptional achievements of TELDAP. Up to the present time 3.21 million cultural relics from public and private organizations and individuals have been digitally archived, 379 websites/databanks have been established, 5.29 pieces of digital media produced. Various division projects are cooperating with organizations in the US, UK and Italy etc.
