The 2011 Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program (TELDAP) International Conference will be held at the Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan from Wednesday March 16 to Saturday March 19, 2011. The conference is hosted by International Collaboration and Promotion Division of Taiwan e-Learning & Digital Archives Program.
Why does modern Taiwan still practice such judicial rituals in the context of economic growth and with legal reform? Is it due to an expansion of traditional religion in the public sphere or a representation of flaws that still existed in the legal system today? Paul Katz of Academia Sinica will discuss this issue on the coming Saturday.
Chi Kang was born at the end of the Qing dynasty in Cixi, a city in the Ningbo region of the ZheChiang province of China. Chi Kang’s family was a renowned family of calligraphers and painters; his great-grandfather ShouGong was a Qing Dynasty artist who was well known south of the ChangChiang River for his extraordinary renditions of flora and fauna and his uncle Chi Shouzheng was a famous Shanghainese calligrapher.
