Taiwan Pavilion Highly Appreciated in New York!

artkey Art Licensing Center/Simon Ho

This year is the fourth time Taiwan takes part in the Licensing International Expo, which is held at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center at New York City. Taiwan Pavilion uses “Creative Taiwan-Best Idea For You” as its theme and tries to present unique licensing contents of Taiwan cultures. Many enthusiastic buyers contacted us on the first day and products of art, Character and ACG were most popular. Meanwhile various poster publishers and manufacturers of gifts, stationeries, and houseware from USA, United Kingdom, Russia, Brazil, and India showed their interests.

Sponsored by National Science Council, organized by Taiwan e-Learning & Digital Archives Program, executed by artkey Art Licensing Center, co-sponsored by Council for Culture Affairs and supported by The Taipei Cultural Center (TECO) in New York. The program has achieved an outstanding success through unceasingly efforts from the government and public and how to add value to the digital contents by the method of licensing and promote Taiwan cultures onto the international stage have become the main purpose this year.

With a focus on peculiar Taiwan cultures, Taiwan Pavilion hopes to yield a brilliant result through the Licensing International Expo 2008. The pavilion is designed with elements of Taiwan’s multi-cultures, such as “dadala”, “Tayal red” and “Hakka fabric. And the main visual image “dadala” is the traditional canoe made by the aboriginal Tao people, symbolizing collection of their ancestors’ wisdom and people’s power. Mutual benefit and symbiosis with Nature is the characteristic of traditional Tao culture, indicating the main theme this year: a canoe full of digital archives and creativity sails towards the world to pass down Taiwan cultures.

Besides, the organizer tries to attract buyers with souvenir of Taiwan features and a series of on-site activities on the stage. And the live Taiwanese folk music performance at 2PM made Taiwan Pavilion more impressive to attendees.
