Many of us are too young to have lived in the 1950s and 60, the heyday of the E.Sha song and dance troupe, however, TELDAP’s film archives allow us to cross the barrier of time and space and pay a visit to the era of E.sha.
Xiaolin village in Jiaxian Rural Township, Kaohsiung County, was devastated in the typhoon Morakot on August 8. The majority of residents of the village are members of the Siraya tribe, a branch of the Pingpu tribe, and it was also the site of field work housed by the Institute of Ethnography, Academia Sinica.
The genus Nuphar comprises about 16 aquatic species that are distributed mainly in temperate regions of northern hemisphere but also found in the subtropics. Commemorating Yaichi Shimada who first found this plant in northern Taiwan, Bunzo Hayata published the new species, Nuphar shimadae, in “Icones Plantarum Formosanarum" in 1916.
