Based upon the ideas of gathering together and discussion implicit in the Taiwanese term “daoding,” the “2011 Exhibition of Digital Archives Request for Proposals Projects” employs “interactions” or “exchanges” between different types of digital projects—i.e.“Sound meets Movement,” “Document Preservation meets Document Creation,” “Natural Landscapes meet Man-made Scenery,” “Traditional Arts meet Applied Arts”—as well as a “Digitization Workshop” to create the five major areas within the exhibition and to introduce the digitization work carried out by the 78 request-for-proposals projects over the past year.
“Sound meets Movement” : Sound and Sight Collide, Creating a Myriad of Performance Styles
“Document Preservation meets Document Creation“ : Documents of Various Shapes, Sizes, and Types Evince the Transformability of Historical Materials
“Traditional Arts meet Applied Arts”: Diverse Media Create an Artistic Flavor
From the preservation of artifacts and materials to the creation of digital archives, the “Digitization Workshop” is a laboratory that we can all share. From here, we build the digital age, creating a new digital life of study and sharing, browsing and utilization, and gathering and communicating.
