Dr. Fan-Sen Wang was appointed as Taiwan e-learning and Digital Archives Program (TELDAP) program director by the ROC National Science Council on June 1, 2010.
Dr. Ts'ui-jung Liu, the previous program director (National Digital Archives Program ‘NDAP’ and TELDAP), took up the position in 2007. In these three years she led the integration of the two programs, closely integrating their content, talented human resources, distinctive features and advantages across the board through the use of suitable operating and managing mechanism, giving full play to synergy. In addition, under Dr. Liu, every effort has been made to promote results inventory taking, establish a licensing mechanism and carry out sustainable management planning for TELDAP results.
New program director Fan-Sen Wang was appointed as one of Academia Sinica's vice presidents on January 1, 2010 by its President Chi-huey Wong. Dr. Wang joined Academia Sinica’s Institute of History and Philology as a research assistant in 1985 and received his PhD in East Asian studies from Princeton University in 1993. He was an associate researcher in the Institute of History and Philology (1993-1998,) researcher (1998-2005) and became a distinguished research fellow in September 2005--. His research interests include the history of intellectual thought, culture and academic scholarship from the Ming and Qing Dynasty to modern China. He became an Academia Sinica Academician in 2004 and he was elected a fellow of UK's Royal Historical Society in 2005.
Dr. Wang has rich academic and administrative experience. He was the director-general of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Science Council from 2000 to 2002, director of the Tsai Yuan-pei Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences from 2003 to 2004 and director of Institute of History and Philology 2003-2009.He currently teaches at National Taiwan University and National Tsing Hua University and is an honorary chair professor at National Chung Hsing University. He is currently a member of the Advisory Committee on Humanities and Social Science Development, National Science Council (2003,) the Council of Academic Reviewal & Evaluation, Ministry of Education (2003--,) a member of the Steering Committee at the Center for Chinese Studies and a board member of the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan) (2008--). He is also on the advisory committees of National Chung Hsing University, Tsinghua University, National Chiao Tung University and National Sun Yat-sen University.
