“The Innovative Green Cloud-based Education Software Services System” (IGCS) is commissioned and guided by DoIT of MOEA, and develops by Digital Education Institute of III; this service platform system combined with Cloud Appliance for Enterprise (CAFÉ) Server developed by Cloud System Software Institute enters to compete for Learning Impact Award this year (2012), using the core of actual demonstration achievement at Taipei Municipal Mingsheng Junior High School. The competitors include many well known international publishing conglomerate and R&D institutes – Pearson conglomerate, Harvard Business Publishing, and the largest digital learning enterprise CREDU from South Korea. Out of such fierce competition, III’s entry was granted with Silver Award in new and R&D initiatives category, a proof of innovative learning service of III is been recognized on the stage of international arena.
Instructional Management Systems Global Learning Consortium, IMSGLC is one of the most important international organizations for Digital Learning worldwide. Since 2007, this is the 6th annual “Learning Impact Awards” has been held. This year, Digital Education Institute of III has competed with 26 finalists from 7 different countries (U.S.A, Canada, Japan, Korea, Netherland, Brazil, and Australia) and surfaced from the second stage of contest favorably by the independent expert panel and Learning Impact conference attendees. At the awards ceremony held at Toronto, Canada, IMSGLC praised III and affirmed the recognition of “Innovative Green Cloud-based Education Software Services System” (IGCS), which contains the elements of “Cloud-enable”, “ Open Framework for Context and Tooling Application Builder”, “High Interoperability of Cross Devices Installation”, “Cross Language of Different Country”, and “Increasing of User’s Experience”. The new and innovative services development of IGCS surpassed other competitors from US, Canada, Korea, Netherland, Brazil, and Australia to become the winner of 2012 IMS International Learning Impact Silver Award and open a historical new page for Digital Learning domain of Taiwan.
“Green Cloud-based Education Software Services System” (IGCS) developed by Digital Education Institute is the application of Cloud technology combines with various terminal devices such as electronic white board, template PC, and All-In-One PC to form a high interoperability environment for teacher, student and parents. At present, III cooperates and induces Cloud Service with Taipei Municipal Mingsheng Junior High in the classroom teaching session. At the support and promotion of MIS director, Ms. Kuo-Ling Chao, department of Education Administration, Taipei City Hall, and School Principal Ming-Feng Sun of Mingsheng Junior High, the teachers of English, Geography, and Nature Sciences are using IGCS to create the context of digital education program. Teaching with in-class instant education materials, instant interactive, quantitative assessment testing, and game activity to support teaching service, a multi-dimensional live teaching model is created. At the same time, the accumulated of large amount of student learning history is stored in the Cloud Databank. Through finding of Director Yuan-Kuang Liao from learning efficiency analysis of Education Research and Assessment Center of Taiwan Normal University, the progress result of IGCS indeed is much higher than the traditional teaching model; in particularly, the student with slower learning capability, their progress growth range is improved clearly and greatly.
At the professional and zealous participation of teachers from Mingsheng Junior High, students were happily learning under the Cloud environment and responding with great learning efficiency, such result is unfold in the winning of “Learning Impact Awards”. The Cloud Curriculum thought trend and the learning and teaching model of Taiwan is been recognized at international; Digital Education Institute of III has developed innovative technology, which further connected and verified at the field domain successfully – as best “Education Cloud” model of Taiwan. The new application is expected to spread over to each learning site in the near future.
