本研習期能讓參與人員了解測繪技術演進及存證，提供各式研究素材來典藏人文社會及自然環境變遷資訊，並進而應用遙測影像與地圖典藏資料，在防災上能協助進行老斷層與舊崩坍判釋、土地利用變遷及危險聚落分析等；在土地規劃上期更能保障人民權益，釐清房屋與產權爭議。

透過時間與空間的相互結合，了解到整個台灣的整體變遷，提供鄉土教育及深度觀光旅遊的最佳管道及素材，增進社會大眾對於本土人文環境的關懷意識。
