Digital archives multi-media results display website:http://cscl3.iis.sinica.edu.tw/gallery/ The technology R&D results of the Research and Development for Digital Archives and e-Learning Technologies Project have been put on display on the “digital archives multi-media results display” website. The state-of-the-art technology R&D results already on the website include old photograph restoration, film picture stabilization, cocktail watermark and VCenter platform technology. Everyone is welcome to browse through the research results.
The “Splendor recreated” section of the website includes technology to reproduce digital film color tones and increase the definition of photographs which will allow old photos to be restored to how they originally were. “Visual signal stabilization” corrects the problem of unnatural shaking of the picture caused when filming from a moving car or while walking and makes viewing more comfortable.
Old films can be restored using “visual signal repair technology” that removes damage or noise from old films or the subtitles or objects in the picture, making old films more suited for use. One of the project's past results- cocktail watermark technology”- significantly strengthened existing watermark technology. Two or more complementary watermarks are inlaid in the image. At the most an “attacker” can only damage one watermark. This technology is a great help in protecting the intellectual property rights of visual material.
The project’s VCenter audio visual platform is a multimedia file sharing platform for individuals and collecting bodies, applying the Web2.0 concept and featuring a sharing mechanism, self-set bookmarks, rating system and feedback functions, allowing audio and video content to be disseminated and shared more easily. At present VCenter provides on-line audio and video editing tools and is combined with Google Map etc to make use easier. In the future, the website will feature the new technology R&D results of more technology division projects. All TELDAP members and people interested in core digital archives technology are welcome to visit the website.
