The synchronized platform is the hottest innovative application of the 21st century so far. Now the Internet has matured, if a synchronized platform is used, even if two people are oceans apart, it is like the other person is right next to you helping you with your PC problems. The services provided by a complete synchronized platform include not only voice chat function, video, text chat, joint whiteboard, joint webpage browsing and shared desktop, it also has another important function, remote control, allowing the other party to control your computer through your desktop, much better than step-by-step verbal instructions. The operating guiding mechanism that the III was commissioned by the MOEA to provide to digital Huayu learning centers in Taiwan and overseas uses this easy-to-use synchronized platform, allowing big savings to be made on travel time and expense, while also providing an instant service mechanism, letting compatriot’s oversea feel that they are being supported by the government of Taiwan.
The synchronozed platform of e-learning The platform used by III is Joinnet. At present it has a one-to-one home tutor mode, one-to-many on-line teaching mode, instant on-line customer service mechanism and a class recording class make up mechanism. The complete supporting measures involve first instructing domestic companies in the use of the one-to-one home tutor mode to allow them to understand how to use Joinnet, then inviting the companies to use the one-to-many teaching mode to explain and promote the product to overseas digital Huayu teaching centers, with III staff on line providing instant customer service. Finally a recording of the whole process is placed on-line to allow latecomers or people who missed the class to make up the class. All teaching and promotion takes place on-line and all activities are on-line, breaking free of traditional time and space restrictions. Joinnet can be used at any time or in any place. At present, seven countries are participating and more than ten Huayu teaching centers are jointly using the III-supplied simultaneous platform. It is hoped that use will see explosive growth.
Two synchronized Platforms, DimDim and Co-life
Unfortunately, however, this excellent platform is restricted by the brand width problem. III has provided 20MB of band width but, if students connect through the Internet from overseas, the connection is affected by the local Internet band width and hardware. The problem often encountered at present is that, when the one-to-many mode is used, the quality of the connection is insufficient and there is also excess echo when chatting through the microphone. These problems usually have to be handled by specialized customer service personnel. When the one-to-one or one-to-two mode is used the above mentioned problems do not occur, so tutor ABC has been able to create substantial output value operating the Huayu tutor mode on a simultaneous platform.
The synchronized platforms that can be found on the Internet include Gogrok,Dimdim,Co-life,Sun Net Technology’s Skyboard, Teamviewer and skype add-on WhiteBoardMeeting and many others. The National Center for High-performance Computing-developed Co-life is also very good quality and is also totally free of charge. If Huayu teachers are able to effectively use this kind of easy-to-use tool in digital Huayu teaching it can be expected that it will make a big contribution.
